        At present, false information about people, events, and other issues are being deliberately spread on the internet. As a consequence, many people are exposed to non-factual information that alters their understanding, opinion, and belief onto something. According to the survey conducted by Centre for International Governance Innovation (CIGI), about 86% of the online citizens worldwide have fallen victim to disinformation. Judging from this, it is very alarming how the majority of people who use the internet as the primary source of information fail to be vigilant about the authenticity of the information that they absorb. Based on the same study, 87% of online citizens believe that the internet worsens the cases of disinformation. With social media platforms such as Facebook being the primary source (67%), false information rapidly spreads on a large scale.

        As the internet expands, disinformation follows suit. It's evident during the Presidential elections this year, 2022. According to the UP Media and Public Relations Office, 92% of false information about Ferdinand Marcos Jr. were in his favour. While 96% of false information about Leni Robredo were negative. It was also noted that the agents of disinformation were social media users with partisan views. The number one platform was Facebook with a probability of 66% of false information spread in the platform, which were also interlinked with other platforms like Tiktok and YouTube. Tiktok had played the major role of this misleading election-related claims. 13% of disinformations about the elections come from the said platform and YouTube,  with the same percentage.
