DISINFORMATION

The proliferation of false information online, which kindled a flame and sparked a dispute via social media, impacted the community, most particularly the voters. One of the multiple focuses of this advocacy is to halt the dissemination of inaccurate information online by providing many means for doing so. Another aim is to enlighten internet users of the various adverse effects of online falsehoods as the numerous individuals who are deceived by such information may consequently suffer with distrust in the media, flame wars or eliminationist rhetoric with the opposite side, or the strenuous search for the truth. Additionally, this advocacy will educate individuals about the netiquette of misleading information on the internet and the merits of spreading awareness in its place.

This advocacy is entitled Disinformation: To Believe or Not To Believe? as it endeavours to mitigate the large volume of disinformation victims. The advocates being students and teenagers, they are very familiar with the premise of this issue. Being the benefactors themselves, the advocates want to enlighten the online community about the sources, effects, and measures to avoid being deceived by hoaxes. With the continual growth of the online community, this advocacy will serve as a guide to battle disinformation.
